Test reports — summarized by us for you
Conclusion: Testing highlighted dependable traction in the dry and wet and significant lead in dry braking and shortest wet braking. Drawbacks included expensive purchase price and average levels of noise and comfort. | Note: Ranked 1st out of 7
2020 UHP All Season tyre test · 245/40 R18 97YConclusion: Testing highlighted shortest braking in the dry and wet, good wet handling, high grip in snow, and good levels of comfort. Drawbacks included could be a little more dynamic in handling in all conditions. | Note: Ranked 1st out of 4
2022 UHP All Season tyre test · 245/40 R18 97YConclusion: The Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 might not have matched the extreme winter X-Ice Snow, but it was leagues ahead of the summer tire in the snow and a really impressive tire considering its abilities in the dry and wet across the summer. The braking was the star quality, and while it significantly slower than the full winter tire, it still gave you confidence to drive safely on snow covered roads. | Note: Ranked 1st out of 2
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S vs All Season 4 vs Michelin X Ice Snow · 245/40 R18Conclusion: The Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 recorded the shortest dry and wet braking distances of the test by clear margins. Wet braking was 1.89 m shorter than the second-placed Pirelli. It also tied for the highest lane-change speed and took top points for subjective ride comfort. Drawbacks included the Michelin recorded the highest measured noise of the test at 63.7 dBA and the shortest coasting distance, which points to higher rolling resistance than the rest of the field. | Note: Ranked 2nd out of 5
2025 AutoView Ultra High Performance All-Season Tyre Test · 245/40R19Conclusion: The Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 exhibited some minor harshness and jiggle on the road, with moderate levels of multi-tonal noise feedback. The steering was fast, responsive, and particularly eager off-center, feeling sporty but a little light on feedback. On the wet track, the reactive steering provided good control, and the tire had more than enough grip to handle the conditions, recovering quickly from mistakes and proving to be a rock-solid performer. That feeling persisted on the dry track, where it was consistent and balanced, though it could be a little sensitive to mid-turn loading. In the snow, the steering was effective only in the initial degrees of travel, becoming less so further into a turn, which revealed a lack of lateral traction. While its longitudinal traction was strong, actually driving it in the snow was a less comforting experience, leading to slow and considered laps. | Note: Ranked 4th out of 9
