McConaughey is regularly spotted in a GMC Yukon XL, the extended-wheelbase version of GM's full-size SUV that seats up to nine and rides on a 5.3-litre or 6.2-litre V8. The Yukon XL serves as the primary family hauler for McConaughey, his wife Camila Alves, and their three children on road trips across Texas and beyond. Its generous cargo space and towing capacity make it the workhorse of a garage that otherwise skews toward personal history and brand loyalty.

Camila Alves surprised McConaughey with this second-generation Camaro Z28 on his 40th birthday in November 2009, fulfilling a dream tied to watching his older brother Pat drive the same model in high school. The 1981 Z28 was the final year of the second-generation Camaro, fitted with a 350 cubic-inch V8 producing 190 horsepower and wearing the model's signature rear-facing hood scoop, front air dam, and T-tops. AceShowBiz reported McConaughey's delight at receiving the car, and it has remained one of the most personally significant vehicles in his collection ever since.

McConaughey drove this Town Car on screen in the 2011 film The Lincoln Lawyer and liked it so much that he purchased it afterwards, telling We Are Motor Driven that he loved how it felt and how it drove. He later had the rear compartment customised as a mobile office, fitting a laptop desk in the back much as his on-screen character Mickey Haller used it. The fourth-generation Town Car was built on Ford's Panther platform with a 150-horsepower 5.0-litre V8 and a ride tuned entirely for comfort, which McConaughey said appealed to him precisely because it was so simple.

McConaughey has described driving a Lincoln long before he was paid to do so, and the metallic black 2016 MKX is one of the models that reflects his genuine relationship with the brand. The MKX is built on the Ford Edge platform but adds a quieter cabin, available turbocharged 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6 producing 335 horsepower, and a more refined ride than its non-luxury counterpart. Lincoln signed McConaughey as its brand ambassador in August 2014, and the MKX sits in his garage as a daily expression of that connection.
