A tire sipe is a small groove or slit in a tire’s tread that helps improve traction, especially in wet or icy conditions. Sipes can also help reduce tread squirm and improve fuel economy. Most tires have some form of sipe, but they are more common on winter tires and all-season tires designed for use in colder climates.
