Rim drop is a term used to describe the process of lowering the bead of a tire onto the wheel rim. This is typically done by hand, although some people use a machine to help with the process. The goal is to get the bead as close to the edge of the rim as possible, which helps to improve the tire’s grip on the road and prevents it from slipping off the rim during cornering or braking. Rim drop can also help improve the tire’s contact patch or area of contact with the ground, leading to better traction and handling.
