A coil spring, also known as a helical spring, is a type of torsion spring that stores energy and releases it when needed. It is made of coils of metal wire that are tightly wound together. The number of coils in a coil spring can vary, and the more coils there are, the more force the spring can exert. Coil springs are commonly used in cars to help absorb shocks and make the ride smoother. They are also used in trampolines, mattresses, and furniture to provide support and comfort.

Coil springs have been used for centuries, and they are one of the most important components in modern cars. Without coil springs, our cars would be much less comfortable to ride in and much more susceptible to damage from bumps and potholes. If you’re ever curious about how your car suspension works, take a look at the coil springs next time you’re under your car!
