A beltline is the lower edge of a car’s side windows. It typically runs from the front of the car to the rear, and may curve around the corners of the car’s roof. The beltline may also be used to refer to the line formed by the intersection of a car’s door panel and its quarter panel. Beltlines typically follow the contours of the car’s body, and may be accentuated by trim pieces or other features. The beltline is an important design element of a car, as it can give the vehicle a distinctive look. In some cases, the beltline may be used to create a “floating roof” effect, where the car’s roof appears to float above the beltline.
