Mud and snow tires are designed to provide better traction in adverse conditions, including mud, snow, and ice. They are commonly abbreviated as M+S or M/S on a tire’s sidewall. These tires typically have deeper treads than regular tires and may also feature special compounds and tread patterns that help to improve grip. Some mud and snow tires are even studded for extra traction on icy surfaces. While they can be used year-round, they may not perform as well as regular tires in dry or warm weather conditions.
