Cord is the reinforcing material in a tire that gives it strength. It is made from steel, polyester, or nylon and is found in the body of the tire between the tread and the bead. The number of cords in a tire’s construction (known as “cord count”) affects the tire’s strength, durability, and puncture resistance. A higher cord count means a stronger tire. Cord is an essential part of every tire, and it’s what makes tires so strong and durable. Without cord, tires would be much more susceptible to punctures and blowouts. That’s why it’s important to make sure your tires have enough cord in them. If you’re ever in doubt, it’s always best to be on the side of caution and get new tires.
